"Beautifully made linen shirt. The cut is very flattering to all shapes. I’m so happy with my purchase" ~ Indra

Limited edition in collaboration with ICPA, wear red for Rural and Remote Education Day

The Red Rural Linen Shirt was created for Rural & Remote Teachers Day, a special campaign celebrating the teachers who show up for children, families, and communities across the bush.

Made from breathable natural linen in a bold rural red, this shirt is designed to be worn for awareness, connection, and support. It honours the teachers working across distance education, small schools, remote classrooms, regional towns, and the many places where education looks a little different, but means just as much.

You do not have to be a teacher to wear it. Wear it for the teachers who shaped you. Wear it for the families learning across distance. Wear it for the students growing up in rural and remote Australia. Wear it for the bush.

Designed in Outback Linen’s relaxed Rural Shirt fit, it is easy to wear, easy to layer, and made for real days. The button-down front makes it breastfeeding-friendly, while the long sleeves offer year-round wearability, from sun protection to cooler-weather styling.

Available in sizes 6–24, the Red Rural Linen Shirt is made to be worn, loved, and lived in by teachers, families, schools, and supporters far and wide.

Created in conjunction with ICPA, this pre-sale release is part of a bigger movement to splash the country red for rural and remote teachers.

The Fit

Relaxed through the body, refined at the shoulder, easy to wear without losing shape. Sizes 6–24, graded at every size, and true to size, so take your usual; between sizes, size up for a looser shape through the bust. The full button-down front means it layers open over a tee or buttons up and tucks in, and it's breastfeeding-friendly — one of the few shirts that genuinely works both ways. Long sleeves with a proper cuff: roll them for summer, wear them down for sun cover or under a knit. 100% pure linen, breathable and soft, made for all-day comfort.

About the Fabric
140gsm pure linen cream embroidery
Linen is the oldest fabric we know how to make, and nobody has improved on it since.

We use 100% pure linen, woven from flax a plant that grows without irrigation and barely any pesticide. It's stronger wet than dry, so it survives a lifetime of washing. It breathes and regulates temperature. And it softens every time you wash it, so the pair you own in five years will feel better than the one you unwrap this week.

Our colours are custom-dyed to the country we live in, not bought off a shelf. Everything is designed in Outback Australia and made in India by family-run makers we've worked with for years and know by name.

Linen creases. We've never tried to stop it.

WHY WE MAKE THESE

I couldn’t find linen that fit real women. So I made it.

Outback Linen started at my kitchen table in Longreach, with one frustration: beautiful linen only ever seemed to come in a narrow band of sizes, for one kind of body.

I wanted to make something different. Linen cut for every woman, tested on every size, and worn in the real Australia, not just styled for a photoshoot.

Stephanie Perrins

Steph is an artist and designer based in Perth, creating on Whadjuk Noongar land. Her practice began with a love of painting and pattern-making, something she did for the joy of it and slowly grew into full-time work. She's a mum to two young children, and she designs the way she lives: around real days, real hands, and colour that comes from somewhere.

Three years into working with us, Steph's designs sit behind some of the pieces you love most Rural Outback, Flora, and Lady Jane. It's a collaboration built on something we both believe: that what you wear should reflect who you actually are.
